POLICE operatives are eyeing land dispute as the probable motive in the killing of a 45-year-old man on Wednesday in Barangay Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City.
Senior Police Officer 2 Edgar Lumawag of Macabalan Police Station said Gilbert M. Paborada, a native of Barangay Bagocboc in Opol, Misamis Oriental, was shot by two gunmen riding in tandem on Wednesday at around 3:45 p.m.
Paborada, who resides in San Nicholas, Barangay Puntod, succumbed to eight gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.
Lumawag said the two gunmen who were wearing helmet and black bonnet fled immediately after the incident onboard a black motorcycle.
Police initial investigation showed that land dispute in Opol town is the possible motive in the killing of Paborada.
“Based on the statement of his wife, naay yuta nga gipakigbisogan ang iyang bana didto sa Opol ug maoy iyang gituohan nga hinungdan,” Lumawag told Sun.Star.
He, however, said police are still conducting investigation on the case to identify the suspects and determine the exact motive.
