Comelec bares list of Misamis Oriental candidates for 2013

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) Provincial Office has now come up with a list of local candidates for the May 2013 polls as it closed the filing of candidacy exactly 5 p.m. last Friday, October 5.

Based on the record of the Comelec Provincial office here, for gubernatorial race it will be Misamis Oriental incumbent Vice Governor Norris C. Babiera of Liberal Party (LP) against Representative Yevgeny Vincent Emano (2nd District, Misamis Oriental)(Nacionalista Party).

Vice Governor: Wayne T. Militante (LP) and Jose Mari G. Pelaez of United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

There are three who filed their candidacy for congressman in the first district of Misamis Orientaly namely: incumbent Representative Peter M. Unabia (LP); Henry Clyde C. Abbott (Independent) and Rommel S. Zagado (Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka) PMM.

For the second district, there are four who filed: Provincial Board member Jesus M. Jardin (LP); Augusto H. Baculio of Nacionalista Party (NP); incumbent Villanueva town Mayor Juliet T. Uy (Independent), and former governor Antonio P. Calingin (Independent).

Candidates who filed their candidacy for board member in District I are: Michele N. Anayron (LP); Vincent K. Pelaez (LP); incumbent Board Member Jabi I. Bernaldez (LP); incumbent SP member Benedict P. Lagbas (LP) Agnes U. Lee (LP); Dr. Reynaldo S. Moreno (NP); Melchor M. Cubillo (NP); Roldan Lagbas (NP); Gopaldas Motoomull, Jr (NP); Jimmy Ocampo (NP); incumbent Board Member Geodeguil G. Ursal (Independent); Fredrick Y. Khu (Independent); Marc Lhuwed B. Caiña (Independent); and Virgelia F. Dumadag (Independent).

Provincial Board members for the second district include incumbent SP member Emmanuel S. Mugot (LP); Boris Oliver S. Actub (LP); Homobono D. Adaza, III (LP); Ramil G. Carreon (LP); Andresul A. Labis (LP); incumbent SP member Heckert Hernando Jude Emano (NP); incumbent SP member Arrish T. Canonigo (NP); Peter O. Elman (NP); incumbent SP member Mercy Grace Acain (NP); Nancy S. Madjos (NP); former SP member Santiago C. Sabal (Independent); Albeli B. Jalagat (Independent), and Nasser T. Chavez (Independent).

Provincial Election Supervisor lawyer Carlito Ravelo said the five-day period for the filing of candidacy in the province was smooth and orderly.

"There were also less "nuisance" candidates who filed compared to the 2010 elections," he added.
