Residents urged to attend village assembly on Oct. 14

THE barangay assembly for the second semester of calendar year 2012 is set on October 14.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is urging village officials to conduct a barangay assembly in their respective areas on the said day pursuant to Proclamation 260, dated September 30, 2011 and issued by President Benigno Aquino III, and DILG Memorandum Circular 2012-156 dated September 18, 2012.

The assembly will be held for village officials and residents to have a dialogue on the different issues and concerns affecting the barangay such as peace and order, disaster preparedness, solid waste management and cleanup activities.

DILG-Northern Mindanao Director Rene Burdeos said village officials shall also present the State of Barangay Address (Soba) with emphasis on 2012 first semester accomplishments, financial reports and updates on 2012 first semester ongoing programs.

With this, the DILG called on the residents to actively involve and participate in the assembly to allow them to propose innovations and measures that will contribute to the attainment of good governance in their respective barangays.

Burdeos also reminded the village chiefs to issue notices to the residents to attend the assembly. (PR)
