CRIMINAL charges were filed Monday before the City Prosecutor’s Office against the three suspected robbers arrested last October 4.
Facing robbery and carnapping charges were Jason Malasa, 30, and Romel Abueva, 45, both residents of General Santos City; and Jeffray Roa, 40, a resident of Ramonal Street, Cagayan de Oro City.
Police Senior Inspector Henry D. Cay-as, station commander of Divisoria Police Station 1, told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro they will leave it to the court to determine the disposition of the cases against the three suspects.
The suspects were arrested in Libertad town, Misamis Oriental by responding operatives of Libertad Police and Regional Public Safety Battalion after they robbed Dr. Renato Naranjo, a veterinarian, in Cagayan de Oro.
The three suspects were on board Naranjo’s gray Mitsubishi Strada with plate number TIY-645.
Police initial investigation showed that the three suspects barged inside the clinic of Naranjo located along Tiano-Kalambagohan Sts. around 7 p.m. Thursday.
Once inside, the suspects allegedly hogtied Naranjo and covered his mouth with a masking tape, including the veterinarian’s female helper.
Police said the suspects took the victim’s valuable belongings including his four expensive cellular phones amounting to P100,000, rings worth P16,000 and a wallet containing P2,000.
The three suspects fled on board Naranjo’s vehicle toward the western part of the city but were apprehended at Libertad town. They were later turned over to operatives of the Divisoria Police Station.
