EVERYTHING is set for the scheduled healing caravan of Fr. Nelson Osorio of the Oblates of Saint Joseph (OSJ) in different areas of Northern Mindanao from October 16 to 29.

Fr. Osorio will officiate the series of Masses and healing sessions in Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental and Iligan City.

A relic of St. Joseph Marello, founder of the OSJ, will join the caravan.

Luz Prieto, a member of the Order of Carmelite Discalced Secular whose apostolate is to bring the healing Christ to the sick and suffering through Fr. Osorio, said the pilgrim relic of St. Joseph Marello came from the bone part of his finger.

“This is a privilege and opportunity for everyone that the pilgrim relic of St. Joseph Marello will visit us and we hope and support the people to join the mass, healing sessions and veneration of the pilgrim relic,” Prieto said.

She said a motorcade will be held today, October 16, around 6 a.m. before the mass at the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Black Nazarene in Cagayan de Oro City.

Prieto said one of the quotes of St. Joseph Marello that inspires is “I cannot say No to those who come to me because God will never say No to me.”

St. Joseph Marello was born in Turin on December 26, 1844. He was the child of Vincenzo Marello and Anna Maria Viale. His mother died when he was five years old. The family moved to San Martino Alfieri, Italy. He answered the call of God at age 12 but was forced to leave the seminary to abide to his father’s wish. But he fell ill to typhoid fever. He promised Our Lady that if he survived, he would pursue his vocation. He did recover and continued his formation. He was ordained on September 19, 1868.

In 1878, he founded the Oblates of Saint Joseph to care for the poor, to educate the young, to assist parishes, and to spread devotion of St. Joseph.

On February 17, 1889, he became the Bishop of Acqui, Italy.

On May 30, 1895, while on a visit to Savona to celebrate the third centennial of St. Philip Neri, he died. He was canonized on November 25, 2001 by Blessed Pope John Paul II.

The prayer of St. Joseph Marello reads:

“O God, Our Father, you inspired St. Joseph Marello to model his life on that of Jesus Christ in the imitation of St. Joseph. Following the example of meekness, humility and untiring labor, may we live in faithfulness and joy the duties of our Christian life. Through his intercession, grant us the favor that we confidently ask (pause to mention your petition)
Our Father… Hail Mary…Glory be….
St. Joseph Marello, pray for us!”
