PDEA-Northern Mindanao welcomes new chief

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Northern Mindanao Region welcomed on Wednesday the appointment of former Philippine National Police (PNP) Deputy Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. as the new head of PDEA.
PDEA regional director Roberto S. Opeña said he personally knows Cacdac and describes him as a humble person.
Cacdac was installed by President Benigno Aquino to replace Jose Gutierrez following the latter’s resignation.
Gutierrez reportedly resigned from his post after he was involved in the alleged “P8-million extortion” anomaly confronting PDEA.
“We do not question the wisdom of the President at walang mali sa ginawa niyang pagpalit dahil this is for the good of the agency,” Opeña told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
Opeña said the alleged anomaly confronting PDEA has somehow affected them, particularly in Northern Mindanao.
However, he assured they will continue to combat the drug menace in the region as he called his men to do their job.
“Basta kami dito sa region, trabaho lang ang tropa at di magpapaapekto sa mga negative issues as long as our conscience is clear at wala kaming ginagawang mali sa trabaho namin,” Opeña said. (ALR)
