THE Philippine Embassy consular team in Thessaloniki, Athens listed 129 absentee voters in a field registration conducted to intensify its campaign to maximize registration of Filipinos.
Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece and home of 500 Filipinos.
The registration for overseas absentee voting (OAV) for next year’s elections was intended for both land-based and sea-based overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
The registration was the fifth field or mobile registration this year, following those held in the Greek islands of Crete, Corfu, twice in Nicosia, and Cyprus.
The registration was assisted by the Philippine Honorary Consul in Thessaloniki, Nikolaos Margaropoulos, and the Filipino Organization in Northern Greece headed by Violy Magnaye.
Aside from the series of field registration, the Embassy is also conducting registration of Filipino seafarers through “Akyat Barko” during community events. (PR)
