DUE to the extension of registration deadline, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Provincial office urged qualified voters to register and participate in the May 2013 polls.
Carlito Ravelo, Comelec Provincial Election supervisor, said the public should not wait for October 31, registration deadline.
“Those who will turn 18 years old on or before the day of the election are encouraged to register,” Ravelo said.
He said although October 26 was declared a holiday by President Benigno Aquino III through Proclamation 488 in observance of Eid’l Adha or the Muslims’ Feast of Sacrifice, the Comelec will be open to accommodate registrants, including Saturday.
Ravelo advised those who want to register to visit the Comelec office earlier because their data will have to be submitted to Manila for processing.
He said the Comelec could no longer conduct offsite registration since they’re running out of time and their personnel are now busy. (Annabelle L. Ricalde)
