THE office of the regional state prosecutor vowed to bring justice to the slain couple who were shot inside their house along Hayes St. in Cagayan de Oro.
Patricio Maron, was shot last September 30 while his wife Conchita was gunned down on Sunday, less than a month after her husband’s death.
Regional State Prosecutor Jaime Umpa said Tuesday the Department of Justice (DOJ) is willing to place the children under the witness protection program after one of the couple’s daughters expressed fear for their life and safety.
Umpa said the wife and the children knew the suspect and believed that the murder stemmed from a personal grudge.
“That’s why the wife was killed because she knew the suspect and according to police, she allegedly received text messages threatening her before the incident,” he added.
Umpa said he will assign her women prosecutors to talk to the child and prepare the affidavit needed for the filing of charges.
“As long as the children of the couple are cooperative and wanted to give justice to their parents, we will be with them all throughout their ordeal,” he said.
The couple’s daughter, Princess, said she wouldn’t know what will happen to them.
“Ako na lang unta to ang gipusil. Mag-unsa na lang mi sa akong mga igsuon,” she said.
The couple owned Marons Marble Works located along Hayes St.
