THE City Council, during its regular session on Tuesday, declared December 17 as a “Day of Mourning and Remembrance” in Cagayan de Oro City in commemoration of Typhoon “Sendong.”
The City Council has also authorized the holding of a program for the purpose. Sendong has brought the city devastations, rendered thousands of families homeless and claimed lives.
Legislators also authorized the putting up of markers in the entrance of the different relocation sites established by the City Government and engraving the names of the various donors of such relocation sites.
The City Council said the design, materials, text and other details including the names of the donors will be approved by Mayor Vicente Emano.
Preparations including the activities will be finalized soon for the first anniversary of Typhoon Sendong slated next month. (PR)
