THE National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) continues to work on restoring transmission lines in Typhoon “Pablo’s” stricken areas in Mindanao despite the inclement weather.

A total of 550 poles were toppled by ‘Pablo’ when it hit Mindanao in December 3.

At least 25 line gangs or 200 linemen from all over the country were mobilized to help in the restoration.

The NGCP also utilized all its resources, including sourcing of materials from other regions and using of helicopters in hauling and erecting of poles, to expedite the restoration of power in Mindanao.

As of December 26, restoration efforts stood at more than 90 percent complete.

However, restoration activities were delayed and made more difficult by the continuous rains in the regions for the past nine days despite NGCP’s non-stop operations during the holidays. (PR)
