CREEKS and drainage in Cagayan de Oro overflowed Thursday as Tropical Storm “Auring” brought incessant rains in the city since Wednesday evening.
C.M. Recto Avenue fronting Mindanao University of Science and Technology (Must) and Limketkai Center was flooded as water from the nearby creek overflowed.
Other areas in the city that lie near creeks and canals were also flooded.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Auring” is packed with maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and is forecast to move west at 28 kph.
“It was forecast to be at 180 km southwest of Puerto Princesa City Friday morning and at 460 km west of Puerto Princesa City by Friday evening or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility,” Pagasa said.
The weather bureau said “Auring” brought rain of between five to 15 mm per hour, which it said is moderate to heavy.
Based on Pagasa’s 24-hour weather forecast and extended three days weather outlook, Cagayan de Oro will experience cloudy with rain showers today, Friday, having moderate to strong winds prevailing.
Temperature in the city will be between 23 to 28 degrees Celsius and will have partly cloudy with brief rainshowers and thunderstorms, which will continue until the weekend.
According to Pagasa, one weather disturbance, at the most, is expected every January.
However, another cloud formation was spotted, which it said will possibly become another low pressure area (LPA) next week.
