TWO council members of Cagayan de Oro City will be given honor and recognition by the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) in February as a result of their exemplary performance as three-termer public servants.
City Councilors Ian Mark Nacaya and Simeon Licayan will be awarded during the PCL 2013 1st Quarterly National Executive and National Board meeting and Continuing Local Legislative Education Program on February 5 to 7 at the SMX Davao Convention Center in Davao City.
Nacaya, who is seeking for congressional seat on Cagayan de Oro City’s second district in the May 2013 elections, said he is very honored of the recognition given by his colleagues.
“I never thought that they would acknowledge my efforts as a public servant of Cagayan de Oro despite the many criticisms I received from my detractors,” he said.
Nacaya served as PCL president in Northern Mindanao region, PCL national executive officer and became a member of the national board.
Meanwhile, Licayan has been a public servant for more than five decades, starting as a janitor. He will end his term as city councilor this year.
“Rendering half of my life to Kagay-anons will be a legacy I will leave behind. It’s time that I will enjoy a simple life away from the chaotic world of politics,” he said. (Nicole J. Managbanag)
