FOUR Chinese nationals were arrested after their unusual shooting pace during practice apparently caught the attention of participants of a shooting competition in Barangay Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro, on Sunday.
Arrested were Jason Limsoy Chang, 42; Sek Qing Hui, 44; Tomy Kua Sy, 32; and Jake Co Shi, 35, all from Fujian, China and temporarily residing at Aluba, Barangay Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City.
Confiscated from their possession were caliber .45 pistol brand Colt MK IV bearing serial number 284705 with one empty magazine and 9mm Luger MOD. KG9 folded with serial number 479361 with two empty banana type magazines.
Initial investigation showed that the Northern Mindanao Practical Shooting Association (NMPSA) was holding a shooting competition at the firing range in said barangay where the four Chinese nationals were also in the area firing their short firearms.
NMPSA was composed of Philippine National Police (PNP) shooters, media and other enthusiasts whose attention were caught by the rapid firing from the Chinese nationals’ firearms.
With this, Senior Inspector Wilfredo P. Ochegue, from Bukidnon Police Office and one of the NMPSA members, approached the four Chinese nationals and when asked for the guns’ documents, the foreign nationals failed to present any, including their passports.
Thus, personnel from Police Station 3 Agora led by Police Inspector Danilo Calurasan, deputy station commander, went to the area following a call and arrested the four Chinese nationals.
Senior Inspector Evan Viñas, station commander of Police Station 3, told Sun.Star that charges of illegal possession of firearms will be charged against the four foreign nationals who are now detained at the said police station.
“If they cannot present their passports, we will turn them over to the Bureau of Immigration since this case is under their jurisdiction,” he added.
The four Chinese nationals have declined to give their comments when Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro tried to interview them.
