FOURTEEN people, including the driver, were hurt in a road accident along Cugman Highway, Cagayan de Oro City, a police officer said Monday.
Police Officer 1 Ritchil Mañabo of Police Station 10 in Cugman said the accident occurred around 9 p.m. Sunday along the bridge in Barangay Cugman.
Initial investigation showed that the Bugo Liner with plate number KVL-343 and driven by Noel C. Maui, a resident of Zone 6, Mahayag, in Barangay Agusan, turned turtle after it bumped into the bridge’s cemented pathway.
Coming from the city proper, the public utility jeepney was heading toward Barangay Bugo when it met the accident.
According to police, Maui was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the accident happened and it was allegedly confirmed by the operator’s son.
The driver is now confined at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center while the 13 passengers were already declared out of danger as they just sustained minor injuries and bruises.
Meanwhile, traffic investigators of Police Station 10 are still conducting further investigation to determine whether the driver was really under the influence of alcohol or not.
