THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) warned the public, especially law enforcers, against the proliferation of fake gun ban exemptions.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a statement that the Commission's Gun Ban Committee just discovered fake Certificate of Authority from its Committee on the Ban on Firearms and Security Personnel.
This, after a certain holder of the said permit verified his copy from the Comelec.
“The public, most especially our lawmen, should be wary of fake gun ban permits,” Jimenez said.
He said the public should not fall prey to conmen who sell cheap gun ban exemptions.
Carrying, bearing and transporting of firearms, ammunition and deadly weapons during the election period is an offense punishable with one to six years imprisonment. (Abigail Chee Kee Malalis/PIA)
