THE Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) has initiated a measure to ensure that the May 2013 elections will be spared of vote buying, according to PPCRV official.
Ana De Villa-Singson of the PPCRV, in an article posted in their website, said an audiovisual materials will soon be released to the public “that will make one stop, think and reflect before selling his vote and his future.”
The campaign came after Singson noted an alleged “explosion of vote buying” in 2010 with a paradigm shift from piecemeal buying of votes to wholesale buying of votes of entire families and even barangays.
The PPCRV is teaming up with Advertising Board of the Philippines for the recently created nationwide campaign against vote buying.
The PPCRV are also preparing materials that can help people in voting wisely, Singson added.
“We’re choosy about almost everything else so why not about the candidates we vote into office?” Singson said. (Abigail Chee Kee Malalis)
