Robbery suspect nabbed

OPERATIVES of the City Special Operations Group and Anti-Theft and Robbery Section (CSOG/ATRS) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) arrested a robbery suspect on Wednesday in Barangay Carmen.
Arrested was Muarif Abdullah Mamongcara, 24, native of Mapandi, Marawi City and currently residing at Amfana, Macanhan, Barangay Carmen.
Police Senior Inspector Harvey S. Abellanosa, CSOG/ATRS chief, told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro that Mamongcara was arrested during the conduct of a follow up investigation and operation.
Abellanosa said the suspect tried to escape after sensing the presence of authorities.
He said the suspect even pulled out his gun and aimed at the arresting officers.
Recovered from his possession was a caliber .45 bearing serial number 937152 loaded with five live bullets.
Abellanosa said Mamongcara is one of the suspects in the series of robbery and shooting incidents in the city recently.
Police identified the victims as Hannah Rebekah N. Bagsoling, 18, a resident of 17th/1st Streets, Barangay Nazareth; Lemuel F. Ong, 18, of Lot 12, Block 4, Phase 2, Barangay Kauswagan, NHA; and Michael Angelo Malequiapo, 42, a resident of 8th Street, Barangay Nazareth.
Malequiapo was shot dead after he tried to interfere a robbery incident.
Police are still conducting further investigation to determine Mamongcara’s alleged involvement in the series of robbery and identify his companion.
The suspect is now temporarily detained at the Maharlika Detention cell in Barangay Carmen pending the filing of appropriate charges.
Related to this, Cocpo Director Graciano Mijares said they are regularly checking and monitoring some police characters, particularly those who are just released from the Lumbia City Jail.
“Tan-awon pud nato kinsa ning mga bag-ong laya and to monitor their activities,” Mijares said.
