SENATORIAL candidate Mitos Magsaysay of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) believed that no Congress will pass the anti-dynasty law because most of the senators and congressmen have sisters, brothers, and relatives in the local government unit.

Walang maglakas-loob na magpapasa niyan,” she said last Saturday.

Magsaysay said there should be a supposed experiment in the 1987 Constitution wherein lawmakers laid down in concrete term what dynasty is, who is allowed and who is not considered as dynasty and what is meant by dynasty.

With this, the senatoriable is calling for a constitutional convention and let the people pass for the amendment of the 1987 Constitution through ConCon instead of those elected official.

“Dapat mga tao ang papasa at hindi kaming mga nakaupo na elected official para maiwasan ang conflict of interest,” Magsaysay said.

Furthermore, she blamed dynasty trend to the term limit as currently followed based in the 1987 Constitution.

For his part, reelectionist Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, of Team PNoy emphasized that corruption is the real problem in the Philippines and not dynasty.

He likewise urged that there should be an in-depth analysis as to the root cause of the problem in the country, instead of focusing on issue base.

Cayetano said on Monday.

Meanwhile, another senatorial candidate Benigno Paolo Aquino, of Team PNoy and cousin of President Benigno Aquino stated that he is proud of what his relatives has done especially in serving the people, thus inspired him to follow the footsteps of his late Tito Benigno Aquino Jr., and former President Corazon Aquino.
