THE Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental has granted some 50 students, from around the province college scholarships in one of the country's leading state university in Cagayan de Oro City.
Vice Governor Norris Babiera led the awarding of scholarship grants to certified beneficiaries in a ceremony held Friday at the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) where they will soon enroll for their choice of courses.
MUST is one of the country’s leading providers of scientific and technological knowledge and skills.
In his speech, Babiera encouraged students to focus on their studies so that they will be able to get their college degrees.
He asked them to study hard and excel in their field of studies. This, according to him, will help them find decent jobs in the future.
Babiera also noted that for nine years, the Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Oscar Moreno has consistently provided scholarship grants to poor but deserving students in the province.
The college scholarship grants program is funded by the National Government through the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Maricel Casiño-Rivera, head of the Provincial Press Office, told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
“The program was requested by Governor Moreno, but kani nga grant, assistance lang ug dili gyud full scholarship,” she added.
