A BARANGAY councilor bet was found dead in sitio Pajeron in Barangay Lumbia Sunday morning.
Caesar Cabillon, a barangay councilor bet in Lumbia, had two stabbed wounds on his shoulders. He was 75.
Cabillon sought his election bid as an independent candidate.
Authorities identify the suspects are Rafael, 18, and JM Bandoy who fled right away using the XRM motorcycle that Cabillon owned. Rafael has allegedly been identified to have murdered Cabillon. Rafael worked as a caretaker of Cabillon's property. It is not clear whether the suspect took care of a farm or some fowls.
The police investigators and crime laboratory experts have been conducting further investigation on Cabillon's killing at press time.
Cagayan de Oro City Police Office Operations and Plans Branch chief Lemuel Gonda in a text message sent to Sun.Star Sunday evening said the killing is not an election-related violence.
Early this month the Philippine National Police reported more than 90 killings involving barangay officials.
The campaign season for the barangay elections started on October 18. The elections are set on October 28.
Last week, a barangay captain in Baungon town survived an attempt on his life, but his companion died. (GCA)
