ONE of the notorious robbery suspects in Cagayan de Oro City struck anew and carted away more than P160,000 cash and worth of jewelry from a cashier of a business firm while onboard a jeepney in Barangay Agusan late Monday afternoon, police said Tuesday.
Chief Inspector Lemuel Gonda, chief of the Cagayan de Oro Police Office’s (Cocpo) operations and plans branch, identified the victim as Rosalinda Aban, 33, of Barangay Indahag, while the suspect was identified as Harold Bongayo, a resident of Barangay Camaman-an.
Gonda said Bongayo has a companion during the robbery, adding that one of the suspects carried a .38 caliber revolver.
The police official said Bongayo was identified through Cocpo’s rouge’s gallery of suspected criminals in the city.
Bongayo, according to Gonda, was already onboard the jeepney and immediately declared robbery when Aban boarded.
Gonda ordered his men to also probe the driver and his assistant, saying the robbery could have been carried out with the driver and his aide conniving with the muggers.
The police chief, meanwhile, said that Bongayo and other criminals could have been jailed years back if victims had pressed charges against them.
Bongayo was implicated in a previous robbery case in Barangay Puerto, but was freed after the victim decided not to press charges after her belongings were returned to her, Gonda said.
Based on the Puerto Police Station’s blotter, a motorized trisikad driver in Puerto named Cyrus Dablo who is also under investigation, told the driver to drive immediately as soon as Aban boarded the jeepney.
