A SECURITY guard landed in a hospital when an unidentified man shot him Monday evening in Barangay Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City, police said.
The victim, identified as Jericho Obliosca, 26, and a resident of sitio Pasil in Kauswagan, was shot in the back. The gunman used a 9mm pistol.
Police investigation revealed that Obliosca was on board a trisikad on his way home when he was shot. Bystanders rushed the victim to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) for treatment.
Obliosca is said to be working as a security guard. He is still recuperating at the hospital as of Tuesday.
Witnesses said the gunman was standing in a street corner, posing as if waiting for someone.
The witnesses said they did not have any idea who the gunman was, and could not anymore remember his face or any description that would lead to his identity.
Witnesses added they just heard a single gunshot, and after that, the suspect immediately fled on board a single motorcycle.
The police have yet to establish the motive of the incident, whether it was personal grudge or has something to do with the victim’s job.
The victim’s immediate relative, who refused to be named, said he could not recall a single person whom Obliosca had conflict with.
The source also denied involvement of Obliosca in illegal drugs trade or any illegal activities in the city.
