COPS who are engaging in illegal gambling operations in the city could be sued with administrative charges once caught.

This, after Chief Inspector Lemuel Gonda, Cocpo’s chief of operations and plans branch, heard reports that some law enforcers of the city have been using mobile patrols and other Cocpo vehicles in collecting ‘tong’ or protection money from illegal gambling operators.

Gonda has urged the public to secure video footages or pictures that would support their claims, and assured that the Cocpo leadership would not hesitate to sanction erring police officers.

“Aksiyonan nato na, basta duna lang atong ma-support (We will act on it as long as there’s proof to support it),” Gonda said.

Meanwhile, the city’s police force has intensified its campaign against the sale of pornographic videos in public markets and other areas.

Gonda said the police will not stop in its campaign until there are no more pirated discs sold or patronized in the city.

Earlier, Inspector Dominador Orate, Cogon Police Station deputy commander, said in a radio interview that some stall owners and ambulant vendors display copies of lewd videos at Cogon market where these are hugely patronized.

But Orate admitted they could hardly arrest the vendors as they immediately flee authorities during inspections, announced or not.

However, he vowed that police operatives would not stop until these vendors are caught and their wares confiscated and destroyed by authorities.
