THE 17-year-old lad believed to be a victim of summary execution has been identified Wednesday morning, the Macasandig police said.
The family of the victim identified him as Ver John Paul Pollentes, a resident of Las Pedras, Kauswagan. His family searched for him for four-days.
Pollentes was found dead in Aluba, Macasandig early morning Monday, the police said.
The family wants justice for the death of their loved one, who has no criminal records with the authorities including the barangay.
In a radio interview Wednesday morning, James Grande, victim’s uncle, said they believe that Ver John Paul could have been wrongly identified to be involved in illegal activities, even though the victim had been with noted personalities engaged in crimes.
“Wala may kaso…bisan blotter, wala man pud. Basin lang naka barkada… nadalahig lang dayon. Wala man pud kuno ma-involve sa binuang, wala sab sukad mapriso… dili unta ingon ana nga basta-basta ug patay ang tawo. Basin naala-an lang, naapil siguro (sa illegal activity) basin iyang nauban mga noted siguro… wala may record nga nanghilabot,” Grande said.
The victim, Grande said, had been assisting his father in dispatching public utility vehicles at Cogon public market premises.
But he said the family couldn’t accept how the victim was executed.
“Nganong ingon ana man (pagpatay). Kung nakasala man tinuod… sayonan ka gigaid ang kamot, gibaatan ang baba, ug gitabonan ang mata… dayon gipusil. Kung kinsa man gani ang naghimo, mahatagan unta ug hustisya,” Grande pleaded.
Of the victim’s death, Grande said, “Ginoo na lang ang mahibalo.”
“Manghinaut na lang mi nga dili kin imahitabo sa uban pamilya. Ang otoridad nalang ang bahala,” he said when ask on their plans how could justice be served to his nephew’s death.
Grande said the family wants an autopsy of the victim’s body so authorities could deepen their investigation, “pero mahal man gud ang bayad.”
“Ultimo raman mi…gihatag na lang namo sa Ginoo ang tanan,” he added.
The victim’s mother, Roselle, had been warning the victim to refrain from going out with people who are “police characters,” but he didn’t listen.
