WHILE Jimmy Fuentes was taking a break from hailing passengers at West Bound terminal around 11:25 in the morning Thursday, two men riding a motorcycle pumped six bullets into his body.
This time, the killing was carried out in broad daylight.
Most of the killings in the city deemed extra judicial have remained unsolved. No suspects have been pinned and leaving the police clueless of the motives of these slaying.
Fuentes, 35, a resident of Barangay Bayabas, is a “barker” for more than five years according to one of the witnesses.
Sherly, 38, a resident near the terminal, said the unidentified men covered their faces with handkerchief and were clad in jacket. They shot Fuentes at gunpoint while on board the motorcycle.
SPO3 Dominador Datahan, chief investigation officer of Bulua police station, told Sun*Star Cagayan de Oro the victim had six gunshot wounds. Five shots hit his rib and chest part, while another one went below his right eye, Datahan said.
He added the suspects used a .45 caliber pistol based on the spent shells found at the crime scene.
“We know him a bit. With regard to his activities that we do not know, so we have no idea of the possible motives of the killing,” Melly Abejuela, 31, one of those who knew Fuentes, told this paper.
"Maayo man ni sya nga tawo dili pareha sa uban nga dispatcher nga buluyagon (He was a good person unlike other ‘barkers’ who are ill-mannered)," Sherly added.
Datahan couldn’t tell of the possible motives of the killing as they have other things to consider.
"We cannot judge for now since we have yet to check his background and his possible enemies before this incident happened," he said.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives in the northern Mindanao brought the remains of Fuentes to a funeral home while the family of the victim has yet to be contacted by authorities.
