XAVIER University-Ateneo de Cagayan was ranked number one in the list of the top performing schools in the recent 2017 Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE) held last June 4 and 5.
Provincial schools dominated the top performing schools of the NLE headed by Cagayan de Oro city's Xavier University (XU) out of the 468 participating colleges and universities nationwide. XU garnered a passing rate of 100 percent as all of its 60 nursing graduates passed the exam.
XU was followed by the West Visayas State University- La Paz with a passing rate of 99.21 percent. The NLE's topnotcher, Mary Angelie Cabañez graduated from the said school.
Other schools in the top performing schools list included Bicol University-Legazpi, University of Pangasinan, and Ateneo de Zamboanga.
The top five schools were ranked as participating schools with 50 or more nursing graduates and with at least 80 percent passing percentage.
A total of 3,882 out of 11,176 examinees passed the exam which was conducted in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga.
The Nursing Licensure Examinations are held twice a year for aspiring Nursing professionals. A total of 34.74 percent overall passing rate was recorded for June 2017 NLE and is 12.99 percent lower than the most recent Nursing board exam last November 2016 with a 47.73 percent overall passing rate.
