Wednesday, September 20, 2017

AUTHORITIES arrested four male skateboarders for alleged marijuana use and possession after policemen caught a whiff of the illegal drug at a police checkpoint in Cagayan de Oro City last Tuesday, September 19.

Police identified the four suspects as Janrey Boniao, Jaigg Kaico Dalumpines, and Ryan Mueco, all from Iligan City, and Kurt Louie Kong from Cebu City.

The four were arrested at a police checkpoint along the highway in Barangay Tablon on Tuesday evening.

Seized from their possession were about 500 grams of dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops worth around P8,000.

Chief Inspector Evan Viñas, police station 10 chief, said the suspects were on board a L300 van owned by Mueco when apprehended.

Viñas said the suspects were believed to be having pot session while inside the van after police smelled the marijuana smoke when they rolled down the windows for inspection.

Viñas added the suspects came from Bukidnon for skateboarding show and were bound for Cagayan de Oro City.

"Na-trigger ang kapolisan kay pag abri sa bintana nanimaho og aso sa marijuana so nagtuo ta nga nag-pot session sila sa sulod," Viñas said.

"Ingon sila sa Bukidnon daw nila napalit ang items. Mosubra gyud nag P8000 kay mahal man ang marijuana karon," Viñas added.

The suspects were immediately made to undergo drug tests.

Viñas said the suspects picked up four more passengers on their way to the city so they can get their vehicle fueled.

"Naa pa silay gipick-up nga 4 ka pasahero kay aron naa silay pang-gasolina. Ingon sa mga pasahero natingala sila kay sigeng aso," Viñas said.

The evidences were placed inside the suspects' bags and were already submitted to the crime laboratory for examination.

The suspects are now detained at the Cugman Police Station's mini cell while the police have pressed drug charges against them on Wednesday, September 20.
