A JAIL officer who used to guard prison cells will have to taste what it feels like inside a detention facility.
He was nabbed by the police for selling illegal drugs in Barangay 34, Cagayan de Oro City, Monday night, February 12.
Prior to his arrest, Jail Officer 3 Arvien Ybañez, 45, a resident of Barangay Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City, had been detailed at the Cagayan de Oro City Jail.
Authorities seized three sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P3,000 and several drug paraphernalia from his possession.
Ybañez also yielded his supposed 9mm issued firearm.
Chief Inspector Allan Curato, police station 3 chief, said two more drug suspects evaded arrest when operatives pounced on Ybañez.
He said the suspects were also caught in plain view having a pot session inside a house in the area.
"Si Ybañez ang atong target pero nakadagan ang duha kay nalayog mani diretso sa operatiba ang atong target," Curato said.
Curato said intelligence operatives have long been monitoring the drug activities of the suspect.
The police station commander said Ybañez was considered a high value target because he is a government employee.
Authorities said the suspect was known to have been disposing shabu in Barangay 34 and using the prohibited drugs with drug personalities in the area.
"Taod-taod na siya gimonitor pero dili gaka timingan kay gatrabaho man. Siya ga-dispose diha sa Barangay 34 ug apil pud siya gasuyop," Curato said.
"Ang modus karon through text na lang and order ug dili na sila gadala dinagko," he added.
Curato said the suspect is not cooperating when asked about the source of the crystal meth.
The suspect will face charges for selling and possessing illegal drugs.
Curato said the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology will automatically file an administrative case against the suspect.
"Ang iyang armas i-turn over nato once proven nga issued firearm 'to and then, i-undergo pud nato siya sa drug test," Curato said.
