THE Cagayan de Oro City Government has ordered for the closure of a gay bar located at Chaves St. for allegedly operating without a business permit.
Councilor Emmanuel Abejuela, chair of the City Regulatory and Complaints Board, said Hallo Gay Bar has been closed after they found out that the establishment, owned by a certain Jorren Sajulga, has been operating without the necessary permits.
Abejuela said the committee members along with police enforcers conducted an operation of the said bar last week where the owner failed to show some documents.
He said they conducted the operation in response to complaints of some residents that loud noise emanates from the said establishment.
“The immediate closure will serve as a warning to Sajulga to abide with the law since the City Government is very strict on this matter,” Abejuela said.
He advised Sajulga to secure permits before they will open again and issued strict warning to refrain from indecent play and exhibition under City Ordinance 7001-99.
“There is an ordinance amending Section 497, Chapter III of the codified ordinance, so as to provide administrative penalties for violations of anti-pornography provisions of the codified ordinance,” Abejuela said.
He said a penalty of P1,000 and closure of the establishment will be imposed for two days up to 10 days maximum for the first offense while for the second offense, imprisonment and closure of the establishment for 11 to 20 days will be implemented.
For the third offense, Abejuela said the erring establishment will be fined P5,000 and cancellation of business permit. (Nicole J. Managbanag)
