POLITICAL supporters see more election-related harassments looming, particularly in the hinterland barangays, two days before the May 13 mid-term polls.

Three supporters of the Liberal Party-Cagayan de Oro (LP-CDO) members reported to Lumbia Police Station that they were allegedly harassed and threatened by Barangay Besigan chief Melenio Minister and his group on May 9.

Kauswagan mayor’s supporters ‘guard’ town hall

KAUSWAGAN, Lanao del Norte -- Hundreds of people held vigil at the town hall here since Tuesday to show support for embattled Mayor Rommel Arnado who is facing possible ouster after the Supreme Court (SC) recently ruled as invalid his candidacy during the 2010 polls.

Arnado’s supporters started massing outside the town hall Tuesday afternoon when the SC ruling became public. By Wednesday morning, new batches of supporters replaced those who ‘guarded’ the town hall through the night.

Airline to squeeze early flights in Laguindingan

Free cervical cancer screening at NMMC

PCOS tests run smooth

THE final testing and sealing (FTS) of the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines in the city went smoothly on Tuesday, despite minor glitches.

Namfrel volunteers ready for polls

Police: 3 dead found from Davao

THE Cagayan de Oro city police office (Cocpo) has identified Wednesday the three dead bodies found dumped in Macapagal Road in Barangay Carmen on Sunday morning. The mother of one of the victims arrived in Cagayan de Oro and the confirmed her son Ivan August Sardoncillo is one of those found dead.

She identified the two others as Jay Lozada, 16, and Russel. Sardoncillo and Lozada were both residents of Sitio Mahayahay in Barangay Tugbok in Davao City while Russel, 21, was from Magallanes also in Davao City.

MPC to help relieve power shortage

ILIGAN CITY – The Alcantara Group-controlled Mapalad Power Corporation (MPC), which operates the 98 megawatt (MW) Iligan Diesel Power Plant (IDPP) is ready to deliver 10 MW of power beginning May 6 to provide relief to the power shortage in Mindanao especially that the May 13 elections draw near.

MPC began its rehabilitation work on the 20-year old diesel plant on March 11 this year.

200 police from Cebu deployed for polls

VARIOUS groups in Cagayan de Oro City campaigned against the “no vote, ibot” (no vote, evict) threat that Tropical Storm Sendong survivors reportedly received over the weekend, as they assured the residents in resettlement areas that no one can remove them from their houses.
