DO YOU have special talent? Are you that competitive that you’re undaunted to bring it in the open and face your critics and beat them? Are you that confident that you are the best in you’re trade and that you can make it conquering the world?

If yes, this is your time to shine. Go out from your shell and be in Cagayan Capitol College on January 29 and 30, Friday and Saturday. Show what talent you’ve got. Who knows you might have what it takes to conquer the world.

It’s the common denominator for Celine Dion, Julio Iglesias and later Paul Potts singing Nessum Dorma producing his own album via Britain Got Talent. If we have that raw talent in Arnel Pineda, Lani Misalucha, Charice Pempengco, here’s really your chance to make it. That’s if you survive in toughest competition dubbed “Pilipinas Got Talent.”

So guys come out and brace yourself and hopefully dance or sing your way all the way to stardom. You might not make it but it’s the best reality check if the world reserves a space for you to shine. If this country has produced Manny Pacquiao in boxing, Lea Salonga in theater, there must be many more talents waiting to be found. Why not? Filipinos are that passionate people and love to sing, dance, act and perform even just for mild entertainment. What more if a competition carries prizes that would catapult you to fame and fortune?

What’s the good thing about PGT is that they are really going around looking for raw talent, giving the chance for those who have been there perfecting their trade but were not given the break to perform let alone, be recognize for what they have. Never mind the resources because your talent is a magnet for patron of the arts to invest and help you showcase your trade. Most specially don’t be too cautious with your looks it’s definitely not your face that counts. As Lani Misalucha revealed it to Cheche Lazaro’s “Profiles”: “Pakapalan lang yan ng mukha, accept it. Hindi pa gaano pa kakapal noong araw sa Manila but pinakapal ko lalo now I’m in LA,” she said in jest.

The important thing is you compete and hopefully stay there, making it happen. It’s the beauty within, your talents that count. Look at Susan Boyle, she looks like an old matron but sings like an angel with her “I Have a Dream’, a dream fulfilled in BGT. Indeed, this is a major breakthrough for ABS-CBN that they exerted their time and resources looking for rough diamonds in the countryside. It’s good that they have reached this far as we have abundance of talents in different fields but were only relegated to the background in favor of the commercial ones which could only boast of their faces and connection.

Most importantly, the PGT are very helpful and courteous as they would usher you in the venue and helping you facilitate things up. I know this because I was in Pryce Plaza few months back in their initial audition and passed the two auditions despite my rugged look, coming all the way from the fieldwork. They even promoted my Himig Mindanao acapella after performing my “The Prayer” piece. Now is the next level. If this turns out positive, then what a chance polishing that diamond in me.
