Mayor calls on expats to join “International Night”

CITY Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula urged all foreigners now residing in Cagayan de Oro City to join in a special social gathering dubbed as “International Night” slated on August 23, 2009 at the Pryce Plaza Hotel.

The City Government’s hosting of the “International Night” will form part as one of the major highlights of Cagayan de Oro City’s fiesta celebration this year, Mayor Jaraula said as he cordially invites all foreign nationals to join in the affair by having their names registered with the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office at City Hall, with a P400 registration fee per person.

The holding of the “International Night,” probably the “first-of-its kind” to happen during the city fiesta celebrations on August 28, basically aims to give due recognition and appreciation to all foreigners, who in one way or another, contributed to the rapid progress and development of Cagayan de Oro City.

The one-night affair will also serve as a simple tribute and honor to all foreigners who decided to reside permanently in Cagayan de Oro City or make the city as their place of business or pursue higher education.

It can be recalled that Mayor Jaraula conceived the idea of hosting the “International Night” as part of his recent promotional blitz to local and foreign tourists and businessmen to make Cagayan de Oro as their “weekend home,” “vacation home,” “second home,” and “retirement home.”

Mayor Jaraula’s new name branding of the city hopes to complement Cagayan de Oro City’s usual tagline as the “City of Golden Friendship and of Golden Opportunities - The Compelling Gateway to Northern Mindanao.”

Interested foreigners who want to register may visit the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, located at the ground floor of the Tourism Hall, City Hall, or call telephone number 8574281 local 608 for more details and inquiries. (CIO)
