Health is wealth

HEALTH is wealth, of Course. When one is healthy, the person obviously is not hospitalized and does not suffer serious afflictions. But when wealth is health, you find it contrary to the accepted truism that wealth is health. Naturally, one listens as to why this is so, this was declared by Cording Diel several years ago to a few colleagues or his compañeros in the legal profession during a break in an IBP Continuing Legal Education Seminar.
The late Cording Diel was a respected governor and assemblyman in the province of Misamis Oriental when Cagayan de Oro voters were not prohibited by law yet to vote for candidates for provincial elective offices, like governors, vice governors and board members.
Why so? His explanation was that when he was confined in a private hospital, he could have died a few days after his operation if not for the money of his eldest daughter Corabel, who owns a quality primary school in the Carmen area of our city.
The late Cording Diel never enriched himself in public office. He was a priest in the Aglipayan Church, where his older brother is a bishop.
In the Aglipayan Chuch, their priests and bishops are allowed to marry, in contrast to the Catholic Church where the priest is not allowed to marry.
Vatican should review its tradition of the prohibition since some catholic priests are either having illicit affairs with single women and married ones too, plus affairs with their own co-priest and worse, some molest their altar boys. Some provide for their tomorrow by asking for donations that goes to their pockets instead of projects for the welfare of parishioners. Some are habitual drunkards and addicted to illegal drugs and gambling. That’s why today, the Catholic Church is no longer influential in the formation of public policies of government, relative to morals and public conduct.
Look at the controversial RH Bill. Many of the advocates for its passage are Catholics. What is then God’s way of cleansing the sinfulness of the world?
I don’t know, only God knows.
