My life’s music

ABOUT a year ago, I came across an ad in a classified ad section of a national paper which advertised the sale of a unique radio set which has a phonograph compartment, a CD section, an AM-FM radio portion. Indeed, a unique item.
So a few days thereafter, my wife together with Rommel and Kookie left for Manila to purchase certain important items not available in Cagayan de Oro, I made sure that they purchase such item.
When they returned a few days after, my wife happily informed me that she bought the unique item. A day after we operated it, it was indeed very functional. So it occupies now a prominent space in the front Lanai of our PSB-Ulaliman house in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.
So now, I can listen to the songs of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Perry Como, Eddie Fisher, Nat King Cole, Jack Jones, The Beatles, Cascades, Elvis Presley, the Four Freshmen, the Brothers 4 the Platters, Paul Anka, Barry Manilow, the Mills Brothers, Michael Jackson, local singers Eddie Peregrina, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Yoyoy Villame, Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck.
I could no longer find the album of Ruben Tagalog and Cenon Lagman, the King and Prince of Kundimans.
From the women entertainers, I still have the albums of Doris Day, Joni James, Liza Minnelli, Eydie Gorme, the wife of singer Steve Lawrence, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Barbara Streisand and Sarah Vaughan.
Why did I write about singers? For music is the language of the soul. Without music, life would be boring and drab.
Marriage today is no longer sacred and important in life. The in thing now is just living in. But I do believe in the sacredness of marriage. In the past, when I’m made to sing upon request of the newly married couple, I always sing this song, which lyrics is so touching and meaningful.
The song is “Never” – “My love is deep as the sea, that flows forever, you ask me when it will end, I’ll tell you…. Never… My love is bright as the sun, that shines forever, you ask me when will it fade, I’ll tell you Never… The world may disappear, like a castle of sand, but I’ll be waiting here with my heart and my hand.”
“My love, I love you so much now and forever, you ask me when will it end, I’ll tell you… Never.”
For better or for worse, let no man put asunder. Indeed, it should be that way.
