What can we do with Scarborough Shoal?

-A A +A

Sunday, July 15, 2012

IT SEEMS the Philippines is very interested in its claim of the Scarborough Shoal for some reasons. Maybe due to its alleged oil reserved or whatever. Or maybe the group of islands is rich with gold and other natural resources that could change the face of our country if we get the place for eventual development and business ventures.

Right now, it is not very clear to us but our country would not venture if there is nothing about the claim.

Imagine our determination to face the might of China for this claim alone. Under all imagination, it seems there is something big on the place that we can make use of, if things go right for us. And to think that China is also blind in its effort to claim the place is likewise a good indication that there is some really something big in the area. Of course, right now, nothing was said of the place in terms of wealth and attraction but definitely, there is something worth fighting for.

Certainly, there is no use losing lives of our soldiers for such a thing. We claim it in the order of good conduct and manner instead of firing guns to grab it.

The way China has displayed its muscle and strength in the area shows already that they are determined to claim the islands no matter what. It is, therefore, a big fight involving a world power against a small mice. It is best to keep our mouth shut while doing the claim in an orderly manner by way of the international court of justice.

Let us not shed blood in the area. We may pursue our desire to claim the islands in a peaceful manner. Never send soldiers. Never fire a bullet. We shall fulfill our claim the best way possible without producing smokes. We must maintain peace while fighting for something that requires bloodshed. We will never win a war against a giant. Always, we shall lose the war like toothpicks.

And supposed there is nothing in the Scarborough Shoal? What can we get especially if we fight over it? We have still so many neglected islands like in Mindanao and even in the Visayas. Most of these islands have not be been developed and are still open for whatever kind of commercial adventure. What the government need is projects in the area, especially on industrialization to make these places modern symbols of high tech ambitions.

The success in Scarborough Shoal, of course, will add some mileage for the Philippines in the world map. We will be annexing some pieces of islands in our territory, a thing that would enrich us greatly. It will widen our territory limits and certainly increase the value of our country in terms of economy and the like. It is always best to have the Scarborough Shoal in our territory.

I look forward for the day when the islands are annexed to our country and we benefit whatever there is in the place especially the rumored oil and other natural resources. We need them provided we get them with peace in our heart and the way it should. We pray nothing violent will take place during the claim of ownership with the agreement of China.
