The fiesta was successful

AUTHORITIES in Cagayan de Oro City declared that the celebration of the city’s fiesta was successful. Except for a few untoward incidents, nothing else took place that could disturb the peace and tranquility of the activities. No less than the city police station declared a generally peaceful celebration.

People from all walks of life enjoyed so much the hospitality, the entertainment, the food and drinks, the activities such as games and other private exhibitions.

Kagayanons received their guests with affections. They gave them all sorts of entertainments available for the occasion. The City Government had prepared so much for the guests, including their safety and freedom of movement while in the city.

Cagayan de Oro is, indeed, the city of golden friendship where everyone enjoyed so much because of intense friendship. I was informed people swarmed every single place where attractions and activities were held.

Actually, the city celebrates the fiesta in three days. People from far and near began coming into the city as early as August 26 until the day time is up and time to go back to work. Many of the fiesta goers came as far as Malaybalay in Bukidnon and nearby towns as well as from Iligan in the western side and Gingoog and even Butuan City in the eastern side.

The way the fiesta was celebrated has not changed ever since. It had been like that for so long a time even before World War II. The reason is that the people of the city are extra friendly and such friendship magnetized guests from everywhere. Imagine, even some guests came as far as Bohol and Cebu City as well as Camiguin province. The power of friendship has attracted so many people plus the entertainments reserved for the guests.
Unlike other places that celebrate fiesta, Cagayan de Oro residents really prepare food, drink, entertainments and what have you.

Weeks before the celebration, the City Government, various associations, private and semi-government, embarked into innovations that attract people. Plus the strict movement of the police department to maintain peace and order 24 hours a day, fiesta or no fiesta. They deserve praise for the extreme peace we have during the last three days of the affair.

Even petty crimes were minimized.

At this early, many Kagay-anons are already looking forward to next year’s fiesta celebration. Some have already made preparations because for them, fiesta is the time when they reunite with friends and relative from far places. They come to the city to enjoy the friendship of people, the activities and everything reserved for them.

St. Augustine has always been revered in the city with utmost love and respect from Kagay-anons and guests.
