Fighting for women
-A A +AThursday, March 7, 2013
TODAY is International Women’s Day. Jokingly, some would say all women must take a day off, have fun, go on an adventure, relax or see a movie.
After all, today is their day. But with the rate things are going at present, can women afford to have some fun and relax?
Most students have to take their final exams next week. Can a mother relax if she has not paid her students’ tuition? Just several weeks to go and graduation will take place. Can a mother afford to have some fun if she has not paid her kid’s graduation fees?
Most often, the burden of sourcing out money to pay for the tuition, graduation fees, groceries and other household expenses lies on the mother, or the wife. They do multi-tasking; that of being a mother, wife and career woman. Only a woman can do this.
Added to this are several issues that majority of women face – marital abuse, domestic violence, low salary, unemployment, lack of education... The list goes on and on.
But in all of these, most women still manage to stand up and weather all the challenges they face. So on this day, it is but apt that we give tribute to all the women for their patience, hardwork and understanding. Let’s make a stand and fight all forms of women abuse.
