Justice for Janet-A A +A
I have issues

AS THE noose slowly tightens and justice being served on Janet Lim Napoles, there is so much to be disturbed and applauded for during the past few days of events have taken place.
The Philippines is yet again at the center of political drama, and one perhaps carefully written as if it were a blockbuster soap opera. First would be perhaps her timely or untimely surrender, as the entire country hanged her public image to condemnation, as the dogs of a resounding 10 million peso bounty was set loose upon her, she all of a sudden appears to surrender to the president himself, perhaps fearing for her life? This after weeks of pointless searching and wishful discoveries of millions who already see her guilt.
It is interesting that it seems pointless now that JLN surrendered, she’s already been convicted in the eyes of the public, they want her head, they want her to suffer, this rule of law seems only a formality, and media has been feasting on it and feeding pieces of her soul to the angry voracious public who can’t wait to tear her apart. But is this fair? Maybe not completely, but who can blame them? Who can blame us?
As our consciousness of what JLN stands for has only been this; a thief, and one that has robbed us of billions, and one that in doing so has lived in life of excessive luxury, that has supported in what many considered to be an irresponsible lifestyle for her daughter, all at the expense of what seems to be tax payers money. It matters less now if she really is guilty or not, or if the billions she allegedly stole or is involved in stealing paved the way for her daughter’s life in excess abroad.
And perhaps, it comes to no surprise that her current treatment is not enough, she is now under the custody of the PNP, she is in jail, but not in the regular type for suspects of her nature, she is in an air conditioned room, maybe not billed to the stars but alas better off than the regular jail cells of inmates.
It seems already wrong at this point, but the public want more, we want more, we want her to be treated like that, a suspect, a criminal, we don’t care if she’s sick. Because so much for equal treatment right? Do we see the same kind of treatment for inmates who have been alleged to have stolen less? I bet not, why should she deserve any better?
Janet Lim Napoles is caught in more than a billion pesos worth of pork barrel scam, it comes to no surprise that we desire less for her comfort, maybe this is not fair, maybe this is a display of some form of inhumanity for many of us, demanding she suffers, but I think this happens when you steal the people’s money.
Let her head roll, let others caught along with it let their heads roll as well, corruption is an endemic ill in our system, it’s about time people pay the highest price for abetting to it.
