THIS country needs to see the taste of justice from legislators and politicians who plunder the nation. The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee has recommended the filing of plunder cases against Enrile, Revilla, Estrada, Napoles and others involved in the billions of pork barrel scam.
The Ombudsman under Conchita Morales has also announced that they are filing the same charges. Well, let’s keep the ball rolling. This case will really be a test case whether we are determined to go where we can if we can begin making a point that in this country, there are no untouchables.
If one after the other congressman, senator and the like, will be going to jail without bail due to plunder, then it will also signal a number of cases going down to the local government executives.
Onward to the next level – the Local governments
In Cagayan de Oro City, we have been exhorting the city mayor from the very beginning to initiate the filing of criminal and/or civil charges against the former administration for irregularities attributed to COA reports on such cases but not limited to typhoon Sendong funds, the COWD transactions, and such multi-million market projects which were deemed disadvantageous to the government.
There was even the reported need to liquidate the intelligence funds worth at least P50 million by the former mayor for the period before the May, 2013 elections. Alas! The Alas is perhaps lucky because the former governor now mayor himself has also something to explain in Misamis Oriental based on published reports of unliquidated cash advances and unpaid PhilHealth Insurance premiums.
These kind of transactions are the same kind of wasted funds in the local level which represent about 40 percent of the Internal revenue share for the local government under the local government code. This will grow by 50% if the amendments to the local code increasing the share of the revenues to the local government units will be approved. Yet, looking at the poor condition of the people in our country, we know how corruption has created a toll on our people over the years.
It is about time to warn our local executives that a time will come when the government can go after them r the people themselves will make public anger demonstrated by filing the cases themselves on their own behalf.
The Chinese invasion
Many people do not realize it but the communists Chinese have already invaded us in the in lands and not only on the disputed Philippine seas which we rightfully own. These bullies who want to control the world order by their new found economic and military power have vested interests in the power industry through their coal plant power investments.
They have also interests in many mining industries including the destructive gold mining dredgers in the Iponan River which are valued atp10-15 million each or about a total worth of over P200 million. Moreover, they have been into public infrastructure projects and it seems in all these, The Aquino administration might have fallen into the trap of the communist Chinese on what he calls Private Public Partnership (PPP) in business ventures.
In fact, in Cagayan de Oro the city government flaunts on that same PPP for private oil companies for the use of thousands of hectares of public lands instead of the vast poor majority who need these lands for their own development and well being.
The Chinese may have not been able to do it on their own but also with the connivance of the local and national officials. That is why, I found it almost meaningless and ironic sometimes to speak the rhetoric of defending our lands when our officials have been allowing these vital industries to be controlled by the Chinese at the expense of the national patrimony.
