WEATHER disturbance "Domeng" has now entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility, as forecasted earlier, there's a possibility that it will pass off Northern Mindanao and Caraga regions.

But based on recent developments as of 10 a.m. satellite report from Pagasa on Tuesday, the tropical depression has remained in the eastern part off the sea near Davao provinces. But here's a layman's term that would keep us at peace: Domeng has slowed down, but please, it's better to be vigilant until it's finally gone.

Sometimes, anticipating the coming of the storm is quite similar to expecting a miracle, as we hope and pray that the projected path of Domeng will spare the lives and property as it passes by.

It was also good to know that local risk reduction management teams in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental have been alert as early as Tuesday when the rain started pouring around 7:00 in the morning, although it is still better to prepare. The government can only do so much, you know.

Recently, there have been letters of petition proliferating in some media organizations in order to get attention. This petition is about a planned recall election against Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno.

The people of the city are not new to this one anymore, after the devastation caused by tropical Storm Sendong in 2011, civil groups later staged a recall petition against then City Mayor Vicente Emano.

But this time, it has been reported to be initiated by barangay officials in the city.

In simple terms, recall elections will take place if the number of registered voters will reach to a certain percentage out of the total registered voters in the city, otherwise it will go to a waste, just like the previous recall campaign when the Commission of Elections validated the signatures and it only totaled to more or less 38,000, when the needed signature should be double than that.

The main reason of this alleged recall petition led by barangay officials was that the mayor "failed" to serve the people of Cagayan de Oro as he promised during the election campaign.

Moreno may not be always the ideal kind of leader that the people we deserve, but to be fair with him, he hasn't reached one full year as mayor of the city yet.

But if we are to believe the claims in the petition, does that mean that Moreno, in a very short time, is more sinister than the previous administration which was in power for 15 years?

This petition has yet to be fully materialized, and if the propagandists behind this move are still working on the details, they should have already gathered substantial number of valid and genuine signatures.

If found true, the barangay officials who led the petition campaign are obviously acted out as mere puppets... again, as some are still indebted and their souls pawned to the one master who never ceases to influence them.

Goodness, he is one powerful political mafia lord.
