Oro police still on high alert

ACTING Police Director Noel Armilla said the Cagayan de Oro City Office (Cocpo) remains on high alert status for the remaining festivities of the Kagay-an Festival.

"We have maintained the high alert status despite the declined threats to the city. We are ready and (let me assure fiesta revelers) Cocpo is on top of the situation," said Armilla.

Armilla said Cocpo already coordinated with the 4th Infantry Division based in Cagayan de Oro.

"In coordination with 4ID, they will provide K9 units and additional troops to strengthen and reinforce the east, west, and north entries and exits of the city," said Armilla.

Police in Northern Mindanao, Armilla said, will also deploy their elite Police Regional Mobile Group to provide fresh police elements in the city.

"The rest of the troops of Cocpo will be deployed per major activity basis," Armilla added.

Armilla reiterated the security preparations would be unsuccessful without the support of civilians as he enjoined Cagayanons to be vigilant in their communities and immediate environs.

"I would like to take this opportunity to call on civil society to report any suspicious looking characters. Our Cocpo hotline is 0918-128-7226," Armilla said.
