THREE political families in Misamis Occidental grappled a thought "in political contests, especially if tightly fought, one cannot have everything"
in the wake of the May 10 polls when they "lost some and win some."
The Tans of Tangub City survived a two-front battle by having Philip Tan regain the mayoral seat amid a challenge by Gina Ocampos, wife of outgoing Governor Loreto Leo Ocampos.

Ocampos battled with Philip's wife, Jennifer, who is finishing three terms as Tangub's city mayor. Jennifer took over the post in 2001 from Philip who held it for nine years since 1992.
Jennifer is a poor third in the four-way congressional race that saw Ocampos emerging as winner.
Another Ocampos opponent, outgoing Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., lost in his congressional run but managed to have daughter Nova Princess win the race to replace him.
Nova Princess, a city councilor, slugged it out with an Ocampos ally, lawyer Constancia Lim, also a city councilor, in what has been a very tense campaign.
Ocampos, Parojinog and the Tans were once all aligned and united behind President Gloria Arroyo. They are even the ones who locally defended the president amid her very low trust ratings arising from the scandals that hounded her administration.
Their political clash began as the reality of the three-term limit rule forced them to seek elective positions apart from the one they are currently holding.
