School offers 4-hour IT training

CAGAYAN de Oro College (COC), known for instituting short studies under Philippine Management Education Network (PHINMA), launches its Fantastic Four program, a four-hour formal training course on the basic functions of Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point and Basic Email at a very affordable price of P444.

Classes for the program will start on February 27 with two separate sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the COC laboratories.

Enrollees will be trained by the school’s Information Technology (IT) specialists in its high-technology facilities.

Alma Gurrea, director of the school’s short studies and graduate program, said computer literacy is a must in today’s generation.

“As part of our outreach program, COC calls to those who need to learn the basics of computer by enrolling in our one-time shot classes offered. Certificate will be given after the session,” Gurrea said.

She said the program aims to provide information technology to anyone at a very affordable rate.

Gurrea said even elementary students and domestic workers are welcome to enroll.

“The program will continue to reach out to communities until such time that everybody have already kept up with the new generation,” Gurrea said.

The Fantastic Four program is also being offered in all pen schools of PHINMA such as the Araullo University, University of Pangasinan, and University of IloIlo.

Cagayan de Oro College was acquired by PHINMA/BCII on June 29, 2005. It is located at Carmen, Max Suniel St. in Cagayan de Oro City. It is the second school integrated into the PHINMA Education Network with a distinct advantage in English Communication and Information Technology.

The school aims to be the leading institution of higher learning in Misamis Oriental and in Mindanao in the development of globally competitive professionals. (Nicole J. Managbanag)
