Dubbed as "1st Karaktea Chess Tournament" and sponsored by "fresh-from-Dubai" Tito Opema, the two-day event has categories for open, class B, kiddies and women's division.
Top 3 winners in each bracket will receive P1,500, P1,000 and P500, plus trophies and medals.
A hundred kids, more or less, are expected to see action in this halloween chessfest, serving as part of the city bets' preparation for the coming 3rd Milo Little Olympics National Finals in Pangasinan and regional meet elimination in Iligan.
Opema's daughter Julie Anne, who is among the regional meet qualifiers, leads an exciting cast in the women's division featuring the likes of BIR resident lawyer Cherry Ibaoc and Corpus Christi stalwarts Alyssa Ysiah Jamaca and Nicole Anne Rivera.
MOGCHS coach Chito Teopiz also confirmed the participation of their school's top players including the secondary girls who made it to the Milo chess finals.
