‘Rufus' chess tilt in January

FOR the first time, Cagayan de Oro's second district Representative Rufus Rodriguez will be sponsoring a chess tournament in the city.
Richelieu "Totong" Salcedo Sr., the said event coordinator, told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro that the legislator is planning to hold the competition in January.

"Aprob na kini nga tournament and Sir Rufus is very enthusiastic in supporting the project," said the father of 20-year-old Richelieu Salcedo III, the youngest International Master in Mindanao today.
Dubbed as "Cong. Rufus Rodriguez Cup/Abante Mindanao Chess Cup," the Individual Open Tournament will have a total budget of P85,000 with the lion's share of P25,000 going to the champion. (LLS)
