11th Metrobank Fun Run set on Dec. 11

CONSIDERED as the longest-running event in the locality, the 11th Metrobank Fun Run for a cause is scheduled to kick off on December 11, in time of the birthday celebration of its founding organizer.

With the Philippine Service of Mercy Foundation as main beneficiary, the much-awaited event -- featuring the five-kilometer (5K) and 10K races -- will start and finish at Metrobank's Cagayan de Oro-main branch, along Corrales Avenue in front of Xavier University.

"I believe the noble objective behind the creation of this activity a decade ago has what made this Metrobank fun run survived against the test of time," said former Metrobank manager Roger Uy, who will also celebrate his birthday on Sunday.

Uy said proceeds of the project, which has P400 entry fee inclusive of timing chip and jersey, will be used to purchase synthetic legs for the beneficiaries among the amputees or selected disabled individuals.

"Sa ganitong disability kasi, may tendency na lumaki ang upper thigh na kakabitan ng synthetic leg kaya may adjustment every year. And this inspired us (Metrobank family) to continue the meaningful fun run tradition," Uy told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.

Registration will last until December 9 at any Metrobank branch in the city.
