CAGAYAN de Oro’s prized Muay Thai fighters Alcer Lozada and Ely Fernandez are trying to beat the deadline to qualify to fight in another international competition.
This after Lozada and Fernandez decided in the last minute to join the World Association of Kickboxing Organization Asia Kickboxing Championships on April 24 to 30 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
They are now waiting for the results of their Visa application.
“They went online in passing the requirements and they are hoping the advice will come out as soon as possible,” said Beh Barothy Hung, owner of the Mindanao Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts and Fernandez’s manager.
Recently, Lozada and Fernadez brought honors in their successful stint abroad last month in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 31-year-old Lozada won a silver medal each in the World Muay Thai Championships and the World Muay Boran Championships, respectively.
The 19-year-old Fernandez entered only in the World Muay Boran and settled with a silver in his category.
Fernandez won the gold medal in the Philippine National Muay Thai Championships last December in Manila.
