CORPUS Christi subdued perennial tormentor Xavier University in a thrilling one-point victory, 79-78. Liceo de Cagayan, not even considered among the top guns, later surprised the Corpus Knights, winning by 10 markers. And the heavily-underdog St. Mary's School can no longer be taken for granted.

While front-running Sacred Heart of Jesus Montessori School (SHJMS) of coach Boy Dacoco raced to a 3-0 start to emerge as solo leader in the pasarelle division, St. Mary's dribblers of coach Rene Ilogon had already took the exit door. But not without giving a fight.
