THE 17th Construction Show Cebu (Cebucon), the biggest and longest-running construction exhibit in the southern Philippines, opens today at the Cebu Trade Hall, 3rd floor SM City Cebu and will run until June 8.

Cebu City First Lady Margot V. Osmeña together with the United Architects of the Philippine (UAP) District Director C-1 architect Alan Chuachoy, UAP Green Architecture Movement chairman architect Edgar V. Reformado, Hardwares Consolidated, Inc. president Engr. Erwin Guanzon are gracing Cebucon’s opening ceremonies and ribbon cutting.

Also expected are trade professionals, trade buyers, property owners and developers, and media from within the region.

This year’s Cebucon highlights some of the construction products and technology on sustainable built environment.

Most of these products improve energy efficiency ranging from energy efficient lamps, saving lighting control device which automatically turns the light “on and off,” alternative energy sources, pneumatic tools, dual six liters/four liters dual flashing water closets, flow reducing/aerating tap to waste water treatment, insulating materials, and low odor paints, among others.

Equally interesting innovations are also featured at the Cebucon. A number of new exhibitors are likewise showcasing their products to test the local market, establish local distribution channels, and launch their latest innovations.

Also happening today from 1:30 to 5 p.m. is a Green (Building) Seminar conducted by UAP-GAM covering the topics on the basic of green architecture by architect Maria Luisa Daya-Garcia and retrofit for energy efficiency by architect Miguel C. Guerrero.
